Dr. Sazedul is an Associate Professor in the Department of Fisheries Technology, Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU), Bangladesh. Currently, he holds the position ‘Chairman’ of his department at PSTU. Since early stages of his carrier, he is very energetic, sincere, enthusiastic in academic, research and administrative duties. His research interests are in the area of Occupational Safety and Health of Fishermen, Seafood Safety, Post-harvest loss and Value-chain Analysis of fish and fishery Products, Seafood processing and quality control, Microbial & Chemical contaminants in fish and fishery products and its associated public health risk assessment and management, Entrepreneurship and Socio-economic development of fisher’s community. As Principal Investigator, he is experienced in successful running of research projects funded by different International and National agency. His research output has made more than 30 publications in international refereed journal.
Dr. Sazedul was awarded his PhD from Prince of Songkla University, Thailand, and B.Sc and M.Sc from Bangladesh Agriculture University. His academic research and international networking is further strengthened through attending in the number of higher training, conferences and workshops in Asia, Europe, UK, Canada and other countries.
For fishSAFE2025, Dr. Sazedul is in-country (Bangladesh) host partner, acting as operational base and key contact person for the project in Bangladesh. In addition, he is facilitating the FISH Safety Foundation (FSF) team on the-ground assistance, formation and selection of target groups of trainers, access to fishing communities, translating the documents into local language and direct supervising the FSF research assistant.
