Eric is the CEO of the FISH Safety Foundation (www.fishsafety.org ). The Foundation is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to improving Health & Safety outcomes in Commercial Fishing – an industry recognised as the world’s most hazardous. He remains actively involved in the general maritime industry, leading the specialist maritime safety consultancy, Pro-Safe Marine (www.prosafemarine.com).<\/p>\n
He started his career in the maritime industry 40 years ago as a Marine Engineer \u2013 travelling the world on tankers, bulk carriers and container vessels. He has since spent nearly 30 years as a safety professional, both as a manager, and as an independent consultant. In 1993 he established the Maritime Division of an international safety consultancy group, before starting Pro-Safe Marine in 1997, and has since provided a full range of consultancy services, including the development of Codes of Practice, safety management systems, as well as undertaking fatal accident investigations for clients.<\/p>\n
An accomplished communicator, he has conducted training workshops and seminars in human factors, risk management, safety culture, and accident investigation, for a wide spectrum of organisations \u2013 ranging from Off-shore Diamond Mining, Nuclear Power and Rail, to Commercial Fishing and Maritime industries \u2013 in New Zealand, Australia, the United States and Canada, Europe, as well as in South Africa and Namibia.<\/p>\n
He is an Associate Fellow of The Nautical Institute (NI), and a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST).<\/p>\n
