Today was our final full day in Bangladesh with a team meeting to discuss the way forward and work on some promotional materials for the press and future planning. We have gained so much from this brief visit and it has really helped us to understand the back ground to the safety issues that the fishermen and families face every day.
The team have collectively written a summary of our trip for the national news paper in Bangladesh and we would like to share it with you here: Summary of Bangladesh Visit
We would like to thank Dr Sazedul Hoque for his fantastic and tireless work in making this such a full and varied trip – and all the better for his impeccable organisation – it has been amazing! Hasan has also contributed so much to the programme and has been our contact on the ground progressing the work before we arrived in Bangladesh. Thanks also to Smriti, our translator and everyone else for their wonderful help, organisation and hospitality.
Some of the team will be back this June for the training of the trainers, and I will be back again in October for the evaluation of the training (among other things). Until then, this is the last Bangladesh Blog for a while, but the team are certainly looking forward to the next trip and in between, there will be much work to progress this excellent initiative, fishSAFE 2025.
